CiA demonstrates CiA 417 interoperability

Augsburg, Germany, October 2009. CiA members presented at the Interlift exhibition three independent lift control systems compliant to the CiA 417 CANopen application profile also known as CANopen Lift. Fourteen companies presented their CANopen Lift products (controllers, drives, sensors as well as input and output panels at the CiA booth connected to three lift demonstration systems.
CAN in Automation (CiA) is a non-profit association that has developed jointly with its members the CiA 417 profile specification. The profile defines the interfaces of controllers, drives, car doors, landing displays, and all other necessary devices to control a lift. The demonstrators at the CiA booth proofed the interoperability of devices produced by different companies. “The benefit for the system designer and operator is that he or she can select from a broad range of products,” said Holger Zeltwanger, CiA Managing Director. “CANopen Lift with its of-the-shelf plug-and-play capability also simplifies diagnostics and maintenance.”
